Balance your hormonal system, improve your digestion, better your sleep, and soothe tight muscles—all you have to do is relax! In a stressed out world, this is a taller order than it should be. For many of us, even sleeping isn't as restful as it could be as we grind our teeth and dream about our worries. Restorative yoga involves getting as comfortable as possible with the support of props so we can switch on the internal systems that can help us heal from the inside out. As we do this, we will also learn meditation and mindfulness techniques that we can take with us to better manage the inevitable stresses of day-to-day life.

This class is oriented around 5-10 minute periods of guided stillness. The postures are designed to be accessible for everyone, even if you have injuries, chronic pain, stiff joints, or are pregnant.

As we progress together, we may explore some stronger Pilates based exercises and use massage balls to help release the legs and pelvis. Yoga can support us to feel more at home in our bodies and calmer and more confident in the world. How and why does yoga work? How can we integrate what we experience in practice into our lives? How do our bodies and emotions inform one another?

Join yoga therapist and teacher trainer Nicole Marcia for part I of this interactive class series exploring how yoga and mindfulness may support our ability to thrive emotionally and in turn contribute to the well-being of our communities and beyond.
